Cultured Marble | Martex | Vanity top
At Ordaz General Marble & Granite, Inc., with locations in Concord and Antioch, CA we know that cultured marble is an amazing product. If offers the beauty and luxury that people want and with our very own patented product (called Martex) we can achieve wonderful things for our customers throughout northern California.

Elegant, Luxurious appearance

High strength, resistant to denting, chipping, abrasion and staining (with normal use and proper maintenance)

Lower Cost
The casting process enables the manufacturer to produce cultured marble substantially lower than quarried marble

Seamless Construction
Vanity tops can be cast in one piece (up to 12 feet in length) with integral bowls and back splash, minimizing seams

Water and mildew resistant
Silicone is used to seal the seams, and it is much less likely to leak or mildew than ceramic tile installations that use porous grout. It is the responsibility of the homeowner to inspect and maintain all silicone joints. As houses settle and move, there is the opportunity for the joints to separate. This situation should be corrected as soon as possible so that more serious problems do not develop.

Products made with Cultured Marble include:

  • Vanity Tops and Integral Bowls
  • Bath Tubs and Jetted Tubs
  • Bar Tops and Integral Bowls
  • Tub Surrounds
  • Shower Bases, Wall Surrounds, and Ceilings
  • Bath Flooring

What Exactly Is Cultured Marble?

Cultured Marble is a precise blend of polyester resin, catalyst, fillers and pigments that is thoroughly mixed and placed into open molds that have been coated with a clear gel coat. The gel coat is specially formulated to produce a tough, durable, transparent surface resistant to in-service wear. The manufacturer produces a unique range of colors, patterns, and veining. By making a spectacular product we created ourselves at Ordaz General Marble & Granite, Inc., we call it Martex. It’s quickly becoming a very popular product with contractors and homeowners alike.

The chemical reaction initiated by the catalyst causes the resin to polymerize and harden, bonding the entire matrix together in a hard, strong mass. After several hours of chemical curing, the parts are removed from the molds and trimmed, ground, polished and inspected. The parts are then ready for shipment and installation.

Cultured Marble is a manufactured product, and like natural marble, granite, etc., varies in shade and color. Other products such as carpet, wallpaper, and vinyl tile vary each time they are manufactured. Manufacturers refer to each “run” as a “dye lot.”

We Love Our 5-Star Reviews!

At Ordaz General Marble & Granite, Inc., we value our customers and strive to do the best job possible on every project we embark on. When the job is done and people give us 5-star reviews, it really makes our day. Customer service is #1 at Ordaz General Marble & Granite, Inc., and we succeed when our clients get the kitchens and bathrooms of their dreams.

Here are two recent testimonials from a pair of very happy customers:

My contractor recommended Ordaz with good reason. Unbeatable quality, prices and personal service. You can tell Carlos is passionate about his work and products they manufacture personally in their shop. I was a little leery of marble, but when Carlos explained that the cultured onyx would not fade, needed little cleaning, and was as strong as granite, I was sold. Even my hubby who was not fond of the idea loves the way it turned out. Some friends actually thought it was real granite slabs.

Carlos and his crew were meticulous, fast, and flexible. He knew we were in a hurry for this unplanned shower remodel and was willing to install on a Sunday morning, but instead squeezed us in on the Saturday at 5:00 so his guys could have Sunday off. Despite the late hour, the install was perfect!

There is a reason this family owned business has been around for more than 25 years. Wish all businesses were this good! Will definitely call them again when another bathroom is in need and recommend to friends.

When remodeling our one small bathroom, we were looking for easy upkeep along with something stylish and good looking. We initially considered tile and stone, but the upkeep, grout cleaning, etc. wasn’t ideal. We had cultured stone about 20 years ago and really didn’t want to go back to the 90’s look. However, we checked out several cultured stone suppliers in the Bay Area and still weren’t impressed with the styles.

Then we went to Ordaz in Concord. Right off the bat we were impressed with the large showroom and unique cultured stone they produce… didn’t see anything else other places that compared with the natural looking products of Ordaz. Rebecca and other staff were knowledgeable, helpful and personable; great first impression. Owner came to our house and measured; installation was done in two steps and the finished product is outstanding. Best shower EVER! They worked with our contractor to assure the shower down-time was minimal and that was a real plus. I know tile and stone is the going thing right now, but really, for ease of care and style, take a look at what Ordaz has to offer. Quick squeegee, daily shower spray and you’re done!

The History of Ordaz General Marble & Granite, Inc

Cambria | Kitchen | Countertop | Granite
Francisco Ordaz is the owner of Ordaz General Marble & Granite, Inc., a company that has a showroom in Concord, CA and a manufacturing facility/will call location in Antioch, CA. Known for its custom installations for new construction contractors, home remodelers and homeowners, Ordaz has built a company that is renowned for using quality materials to create beautiful kitchens, bathrooms and more. For wall surrounds, shower pans, bath tubs, spa systems, vanity tops and kitchens in cultured marble, Ordaz General Marble & Granite gets rave reviews from clients throughout the Bay Area. It all began when Francisco Ordaz began working for several marble and granite companies in the Bay Area.

After learning the business firsthand, Ordaz landed a job at Bishop Industries, marble, onyx and granite manufacturing company located in Manteca, CA. By working hard and showing a passion for this industry, Ordaz was able to move up within the company. He went from being a set up person to being a foreman in 1990 at the warehouse for Bishop Industries about three years later. In this capacity, he was supervising 30 people and overseeing the production at this busy company.

During this time, Fernando began to realize that he would be successful by starting his own company. The seed was planted at that point, and after careful planning and strategizing his next move, Ordaz founded his company in 1993, after working for another company as an installer and later a troubleshooter. When the economy started to slump during this period, Francisco saw the work disappear that eventually led him to the unemployment office, although he wasn’t there long.

When I was standing in this long line at the unemployment office, I told myself—I’m going to open my own shop. So, I found a marble business (Modern Marble) that was closing in Concord and we took over their building. We were in the middle of a recession, but slowly we built it up to be a good business. At the beginning, we were doing less than $5,000 every month, but it started to improve and pretty soon it got better. Last year, we did $2 million in sales, so we’ve obviously come a long way.”

Today, Ordaz General Marble & Granite, Inc. is a 22-year-old family-owned and operated business that serves the Contra Costa Tri-County Area. Ordaz never thought he would own a company, let alone one that is an industry leader and a household name in cultured marble and onyx in northern California.

In 2003, Ordaz purchased the company’s 31,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Antioch, CA. “All of the fabrication takes place in Antioch and customers come here to pick up the products at our will call,” Francisco said. “We also have a small show room there too, so that people can see and feel the products.

Francisco is a hands-on owner and that’s why he meets with customers and handles many aspects of sales. “I enjoy showing people our marble granite and onyx products and advise them on their kitchens and bathrooms,” he said. “When they see the finished product, they get excited and I also get excited!

It is truly a family business at Ordaz General Marble & Granite. Xavier, Francisco’s son runs the company’s production and supervises every aspect of manufacturing when his father isn’t there.

One of the unique aspects of Ordaz General Marble & Granite is that the company makes its own custom products that can only be sold by Ordaz. “It’s called Martex and we have a trademark on it,” Francisco said. “After three years of development, we took it to market in 2013. We use some patented techniques of veining the product and people love it, because it has the natural look of stone without the maintenance that real stone requires. It doesn’t need to be sealed and that’s a real advantage. People want the look of natural stone and now they can get it with Martex. We have several techniques that we use to make the Martex and now we have at least 10 different styles and colors to offer.

The future looks bright for Francisco Ordaz, his 12 employees and his company, because they’re making a product their customers want and they’re focusing on customer service and quality—the two main reasons why Ordaz General Marble & Granite is solid!
